Punjab Police SIT Chief Addresses Media, But Remains Tight Lipped about Bargari Beadbi Case

June 14, 2018 | By

Faridkot/Chandigarh: A day after the Punjab police declared arrest of six followers of Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) in 2011 case of arson and maintained in remand demand note submitted to the court that the arrested persons have ‘disclosed’ their involvement in Bargari beadbi case, Punjab police Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief DIG Ranbir Singh Khattra addressed media persons yesterday. But the SIT chief remained tight lipped about Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and Bargari Beadbi cases.

He said that Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and Bargari Beadi cases were already transferred to the CBI but SIT was probing village Malke (Moga) and Gurusar Jalal (Bathinda) beadbi cases for which various persons were called for investigation. He maintained that Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) follower Mahinderpal Bittu was “called” for investigation few days back after which six more persons were arrested by the police. He said that these persons were (allegedly) involved in a 2011 arson case.

SIT chief said that total 7 arrests have been recorded by the police so far. He informed that a fresh case of section 295-A (IPC) is registered against Mahinderpal Bittu as a copy of ‘Puratan Janam Sakhi’ was recovered from his house from a disgraced place. Maintaining that few shells of fired cartridges of a revolver were also recovered and sections of Arms Act were attached to the said fresh FIR.

On being asked by journalists that whether arrested persons have ‘disclosed’ their involvement in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and Bargari Beadbi cases, DIG Khattra refused to say anything taking a plea that matter was under investigation adding that ‘details of investigations can not be disclosed to media’.

He asserted that nothing related to Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and Bargari cases is recovered so far.

Contrary to media reports maintaining that Burj Jawahar Singh Wala and Bargari beadbi cases were closed to be solved, the SIT chief did not say anything related to these cases.
