Rajya Sabha Election: Badal Dal to renominate Sukhdev Dhindsa and Naresh Gujral

Chandigarh: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has reportedly decided to renominate it’s sitting Rajya Sabha MPs Sukhdev Dhindsa and Naresh Gujral. Duo are expected to file their nomination papers today. The decision to renominate both was taken last evening at a meeting of the party core committee.

Both the leaders, who met Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal yesterday, said, “Once our papers are ready, we will submit these to the Vidhan Sabha authorities,” they said. SAD president Sukhbir Badal and other senior party leaders will reportedly accompany them as they file their papers.

The election, if required, will be held on March 21 in two rounds to fill five slots. In the first round, three members will be elected and in the second two. The last date to file the papers is March 11.

In all, five members are to be elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 21 from the state.
