Amritsar, Punjab: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) came under strong criticism over it’s decision to remove a literature stall of Pingalwara located near ‘jora ghar’ outside the Darbar Sahib complex. The SGPC officials including Manager of Darbar Sahib forcibly removed the literature stall of Bhagat Puran Singh Pingalwara at the directions of Punjab Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal.
After SGPC’s movie the SGPC and the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society came face-to-face. Pingalwara chairperson Inderjit Kaur had launched a sit-in near Darbar Sahib.
For the past many decades, the stall was being used to provide free literature to devotees visiting the Darbar Sahib.
The SGPC move came after Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal issued orders for the stall’s removal during his visit to the Darbar Sahib a couple of days ago. As soon as the word about the stall’s removal spread, Inderjit Kaur reached the spot along with her associates and started performing a “path” as a mark of protest against the SGPC move.
The SGPC finally adhered to the protest of sympathisers of the Pingalwara and allotted a suitable space for the literature stall.
“A heartily thanks to all worldwide Sikh sangat. With your enthusiastic wishes and untiring support, a very beautiful and appropriate space has been allotted to Pingalwara society by SGPC for displaying and free distribution of Sikh literature in the premises of the Darbar Sahib. Please keep supporting our organisation for the betterment of society”, reads a note on Pingalwara’s official Facebook page.
