Fategharh Sahib: Two days after the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) backed Jathedars on their controversial move to grant “pardon” to Dera Sauda Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram RAim, SGPC executive member and senior SAD vice-president Karnail Singh Panjoli said there was strong resentment among the Sikh panth over the move. He maintained that the decision was politically motivated and taken without taking the Sikh sangat into confidence.
Another SGPC member Gurpreet Singh Randhawa termed the decision unfortunate. He said keeping in view the sentiments of the community, Akal Takht should reconsider it. He said he would present his views during a meeting of the Sant Samaj to be held on September 28.
Karnail Singh Panjoli said the dera head had hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community and he would not be forgiven by them at any cost. He said the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs had issued an edict against the dera head. He said the incident had led to clashes and many Sikh youths had to undergo prison terms.
