SGPC secretary said that under the expansion plan, experts of Sikh religion and history, who are fluent in Urdu, English, French and Hindi, would be included. At present, most of the experts on the board are scholars, who are fluent in Punjabi.

“Our plans are to translate the hand-written ‘Saroops’ of the Guru Granth Sahib and some rare Sikh history books and manuscripts into these languages,” he said.

He also said the SGPC plans to have a Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan in Amritsar, where rare manuscripts and hand-written Saroops of the Guru Granth Sahib would be kept. “The idea behind this is to ensure better and professional upkeep,” he said.

In 2020, he said, when the SGPC would complete its 100 years, a detailed history of the religious body would be penned.
