Kuala Lumpur: Members of the Sikh community here have lodged a report against a Facebook user for posting an offensive comment about Guru Nanak Sahib on the Friends of BN fan page. Lawyer Gurmukh Singh said the comment was written in bad taste and disrespectful to Guru Nanak Ji, the founder of Sikhism.
“We are a peaceful religion and live in harmony with other races and religions.
“But that does not give others permission to put us down,” he added.
Gurmukh Singh explained that the Facebook user, in the comment, made an offensive remark on Guru Nanak’s kesh and dastar.
“We wear our turbans like how Kings would wear their crowns,” he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station Thursday (Oct. 02) night.
Gurmukh Singh said the Facebook comment was racist and uncalled for, and that the user should have not made such insensitive remarks.
“I hope the relevant authorities will take action against the culprit,” he added.
