New Delhi, India (February 28, 2013): It is learnt that the families of the victims of Sikh genocide 1984 held a protest outside Karkardooma CBI court in Delhi on February 26, 2013 against the denial of justice the victims and survivors of the November 1984 massacres.
The protest was reportedly led by All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peermohammad and Babu Singh Dukhia, Head of National Victims’ 1984 Welfare Society.
According to a press statement by AISSF the protesters demanded immediate justice and rigorous imprisonment of those accused in the planned killings of thousands of innocent Sikhs in the streets of Delhi following the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in November 1984, namely Sajjan Kumar, Balwan Khokhar, Girdhari Lal, Krishan Kokhar and Capt Bhagmal.
Through this press release AISSF has announced to surround and protest outside Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s residence on March 9, 2013.
AISSF president said that the dual face of the Congress towards minorities can be easily made out from the fact that perpetrators of ’84 killings, Jagdish Tytler has been appointed President of Odisha Congress, Kamal Nath a Union Minister while the party is leaving no stone unturned to protect Sajjan Kumar.
According to some media reports while addressing the protesters Senior journalist Jarnail Singh said the Sikhs are still living a life of slaves in India even after 66 years of independence. Babu Singh Dukhia hailed upon the members of the Sikh community to reach in large number for the March 9 protest.
It is learnt that the CBI court could not hear concluding arguments by the CBI against Sajjan Kumar and five others due to strike by lawyers. The court has now fixed the next hearing of the for March 14, 15, 16 and 18, 2013 and directed CBI to present the written records of the arguments.
It is furhter learnt that Senior Advocate Harvinder Singh Phoolka, Sikhs for Justice counsel Kamna Vohra, and various members of the Forgotten Citizen November 1984 Manpreet Singh, Harminder Singh, Gyani Sattu Singh, Nirpreet Kaur, Pappi Kaur, Nirmal Kair, Simran Kaur etc. were also present during the protest.
