Fatehgarh Sahib: The Fatehgarh Sahib police today prevented Sikh activists from marching towards Chandigarh based resident of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The Sikh Jatha was arrested near village Attewali soon after it left Fatehgarh Sahib for Chandigarh.
As the Punjab police prevented the march from heading towards Chandigarh, the Sikh sangat that was accompanies the Jatha raised slogans against Punjab government.
Leaders of the “Struggle Committee” formed to support Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s struggle criticised Badal government lack of ‘political will’ to secure release of Sikh political prisoners.
Today’s Sikh jatha comprised around 70 persons and it was led by Advo. Harpal Singh Cheema (Panch Pardhani), Dr. Manjinder Singh Jandi (Dal Khalsa), Jasvir Singh Khandur, Mohkam Singh (United Akali Dal), Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala (Damdami Taksal – Ajnala faction), Gurpreet Singh (Sikh Youth of Punjab) and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha, Haryana).
