Around 86 Sikhs were killed during Gurdwara Reform Movement when Mahant Narayan Das and his mercenaries attacked a Jatha of 200 Sikh men, women and children on February 20, 1921 inside the Gurdwara Nankana Sahib. Bhai Lachman Singh, who led the Sikhs, was caught, tied to a tree and burnt alive along with other Sikhs.

According to Times of India (TOI), Nankana Sahib Sikh Yatree Jatha president Swaran Singh told TOI that a function was held at Gurdwara for unveiling the memorial.

As per information the memorial has a small slab with details of the massacre inscribed on it. It has been erected on a small platform with four small pillars on each corner having small domes.
