Naga People’s Movement For Human Rights (NPMHR) held a conference at Delhi on 4 September 2021. Sharing concerns of the organisers about the ongoing talks between representatives of Naga nation and the Indian state, and expressing solidarity with Naga people and their struggle, Parmjeet Singh (editor, Sikh Siaysat) said that as Sikhs, we were duty bound to stand with the Naga nation. He said that the basic principles of Sikhism which are enshrined in our scripture Guru Ganth Sahib tells us to support every individual or community which fights against injustice, suppression and fights for justice and freedom. Guru teaches us to fight against tyranny and also to fight for impressed ones.
“As Naga peoples are being impressed by Delhi Darbar, so we stand in support of Naga people for their freedom struggle”, he added.
He further said: [I]n the last seven decades thousands of human lives and resources have been lost on both sides still the everlasting peace is nowhere in sight. So we need to find rationale for Delhi Darbar’s denial to respect and accept the aspirations of different nations of the region. Now I shall share our understanding about the Delhi Takht, or the New Delhi based seat of Power i.e. the Indian state.
Delhi Takhat is defined by a blended mix of influences, made up of four predominant layers:
a). Imperialist political structures
b). Nationalism and state-building
c). Bippar Sanskar, Brahiminism (caste-based discriminatory social division)
d). Capitalism
