Fatehgarh Sahib (October 30, 2009) Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) has appealed to the Sikh Nation to light three candles outside their houses to pay homage to three great martyrs of the Sikh Nation namely Shaheed Satwant Singh, Shaheed Beant Singh and Shaheed Kehar Singh. Bhai Cheema said in a statement issued in Punjabi, a copy of which is available with SikhSiyasat Network that the Sikhs suffered grief and pain since Indian army attacked Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984 till 31st October 1984, the day when then Prime Minister of India was brought to Justice by Shaheed Beant Singh and Satwant Singh. Indira was responsible for armed attack on holiest shrine of Sikhs.
Bhai Cheema, on behalf of SAD (Panch Pardhani) has further said in this statement that these martyrs are symbols of justice and Sikhs salute their sacrifice. “The path followed by these martyrs is the path set forth by the Sikh history. They used the sword when all other modes of redressing a wrong had failed” he told SSN over phone.
