Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief and former MP Simranjeet Singh called upon Sikh masses to wear ‘black turbans’ or where a black batch to show their protest against India’s Independence Day. He said that Sikhs were being denied justice in India and in such a situation, Sikhs were left with no other option than to protest and seek freedom from India. He was addressing a press conference in Amritsar.

He reiterated that his party does not endorse violence in any form and said that it was not proper to allege ‘Khalistani’ or ‘ISI’ hand behind attack on RSS leader in Jalandhar without holding any investigation. He said that his party was in favour of bringing out the truth of said attack on RSS leader though impartial and transparent investigation.
He also condemned the Punjab government for its ‘deliberate’ failure to crack the cases of Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib or identifying the police personnel who killed Sikh youth in Behbal Kalan police firing.
