SIT for 1984 cases is another ploy to prolong the endless wait for justice: Dal Khalsa

Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Taking a cue from the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) passing a resolution on Tuesday seeking a UN-led probe into the alleged genocide against the community in Sri Lanka, the Dal Khalsa has asked the Punjab government to pass a similar resolution in the state assembly seeking UN-led-probe into the alleged genocide against the Sikhs in Nov 1984 in Delhi and elsewhere.

Pertinently, Northern Provincial Council is the elected body of the predominantly Tamil region in northern Sri Lanka, The resolution presents a slew of charges against the Sri Lankan state and accuses it of carrying out “anti-Tamil pogroms, massacres, sexual violence, and acts of cultural and linguistic destruction” against the Tamil minority.

Drawing parallels between the Sikh position in India and Tamil position in Sri Lanka, the Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said both had faced persecution from tyrant regime and justice too had eluded both. He alleged that all organs of the Indian states conspired, engineered and carried out massacres, violence, and acts of cultural and linguistic destruction” against the Sikh minority.

On the lines of NPC resolution, Punjab assembly through resolution should seek UN led probe into Nov 1984 carnage to dig out the architect and real culprits of the inhuman and heinous crime”.

Joining issue with the Shiormani Akali Dal for welcoming the formation of SIT by the Home Ministry to probe the 1984 killings, he said nothing concrete would come out of it. “It’s another ploy to prolong the endless wait for justice”.

He said the Sikhs have been crying for justice from the last 31 years but to no avail. Sikhs got nothing in the last 30 years accept commissions and committees in the name of “fresh investigation”. He said all hopes for justice from Indian establishment has vanished.
