Statement of Sirsa & G.K. against Pakistan Waqaf Board unfortunate: Sarna Brother

New Delhi, India: S. Paramjit Singh Sarna, President Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi & Former President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee in a press statement here today said that it is very unfortunate that G.K & Sirsa is passing irrational comments against an autonomous organization of a sovereign country taking care of the religious places of worship of Sikh minority community.

He said that both G.K & Sirsa do not have the knowledge that Pakistan is the only country in the world, which has facilitated Sikh minority by forming Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee to look after the management of historic Gurdwaras is Pakistan. Although Sikhs have been residing in almost every corner of the globe but such facility has not been provided to the Sikh anywhere except Pakistan.

Sarna said that we are thankful to the government of Pakistan and Waqaf Board for constitution of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (P.S.G.P.C.) in 2000 that has provided an opportunity to the Sikhs to look after and manage their historic Gurdwaras independently. He said before the formation of P.S.G.P; it was Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar, which made arrangements at historic Gurdwaras in Pakistan during Gurpurab celebrations, when pilgrims from across the world visit Gurdwaras and thereafter sweep entire Golak money (offerings). At that time not even a single penny was spent on the development of these Gurdwaras. After the formation of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee maintenance and renovation of the buildings have done in an unprecedented manner. Transformation of these places is so much visible, which have been appreciated by the Sikhs across the world. But G.K. & Sirsa in a deep conspiracy have been stating against Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee to damage its reputation.

Sarna said that in a historic landmark judgment, Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1948 had held that the lands and properties belonging to Sikh Gurdwaras cannot be allotted to anyone or cannot be auctioned. He said that this is the reason that the lands and properties attached to Gurdwaras are still safe. He said that Government of Pakistan and Waqaf Board have been preserving the historic Gurdwaras and history of Sikh Gurus in Pakistan for the last more than 68 years for which Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi is thankful to them and assure the Sikh community that Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi will continue to support in the development work of these Gurdwaras by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Government of Pakistan and Waqaf Board.

Sarna while attacking on S. Parkash Singh Badal and S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that both father and son have the habit of grabbing the lands of Gurdwaras and misappropriation of Golak funds. He said that they have succeeded in their deeds in India and want to repeat the same in Pakistan in which they have been badly failed. He said that the statement of G.K. & Sirsa is a reflection of Badal’s disappointment.

Sarna questioned Sirsa on his claim of meetings with 25 Sikh organizations in abroad that can Sirsa public the names of these Sikh organizations and their status in that particular state and country?

Sarna said that G.K. & Sirsa has looted the funds of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee in such a manner during their two and half years tenure that committee has become bankrupt. He said the committee at present even does not have sufficient funds to pay salaries to the employees in time. He further said that now they both have gone to loot N.R.I. Sikhs but have badly failed in execution of their conspiracy, as Sant Singh Chatwal understood their plans and refused to pay according to their wishes. He said that Chatwal has said that he will spend funds through his own person and their plan to loot N.I.R Sikhs has been proved futile.

Sarna said that it is quite amusing that a few days before S. Avtar Singh Makkar, President, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar was appreciating Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for releasing the lands of the Gurdwaras from illegal control and thereafter Sirsa & G.K. are stating absolute opposite to the statement of Makkar, perhaps they have not gone through the statement of Makkar and have not consulted with each other of their party stand on this issue.
