Gurdaspur, Punjab: Justifying the candidature of Congress leader Sunil Jakhar for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh said that Punjab was a tiny state that ‘cannot be divided in such small terms’.
Talking to media after accompanying PCCC president Sunil Jakhar for filing his nomination papers at the DC office, the Chief Minister said, “Opponents raise such petty issues in an attempt to mislead the voters”. He added that even the late actor and MP Vinod Khanna, whose death had necessitated the by-poll, hailed from Mumbai.
Notably, Sunil Jakhar hails from Abohar and his nomination from Gurdaspur is being viewed as the Congress party fielding parachute candidate for the by-poll for which the polling is set to be held on October 11.
