After the Ardas, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, in his address, regretted that even after 29 years of the brutal massacre of the Sikhs there had been no justice for the victims. The wounds inflicted on the Sikhs have not yet healed, he added.

On October 22, 2013 he reportedly met the Akal Takht Jathedar at the Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and requested him to visit Pakistan at the earliest He urged Jathedar to take notice of the problems faced by the Sikhs in Pakistan.

Amritsar (October 21, 2103): On the 29th year of 1984 genocidal attacks on Sikh community, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh issued a historic edict directing the Sikh groups to submit a “Genocide Petition” with the United Nations in Geneva on November 01, 2013. “I ask All India Sikhs Students Federation (AISSF) and ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ) who have collected million signatures on “Sikh Genocide” petition to file it with United Nations on November 1, and we hope that UN will deliver justice to the victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide”.
