Jalandhar rural police yesterday presented Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara in the court of Duty Magistrate SK Goyal after the expiry of his 5 days police custody. The police claimed that Jagtar Singh Tara allegedly hid a cache of weapons at Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and demanded additional five-day police remand.
Jagtar Singh Tara, who was extradited by Thailand earlier this month, was yesterday (on January 26) remanded to judicial custody till February 9 by a Ropar court but he was handed over to Bhogpur police on an arrest warrant for questioning in another case registered against him in Jalandhar.
Patiala police today presented Jagtar Singh Tara in a local court after his five day remand expired. The police told the court that it needs more police remand of Jagtar Singh Tara to recover weapons from Nepal on the identification of Jagtar Singh Tara.
The district Ropar police will seek the custody of Jagtar Singh Tara. A case under Section 307 of IPC was registered against him for allegedly firing at a police party in 1991.
The prosecution sought two weeks’ police remand on the grounds that they had to thoroughly quiz Tara in connection with the Rulda Singh murder case to go into the whole conspiracy as Tara had allegedly imparted arms training to a main accused in the case while hiding in Pakistan.

However an investigation by Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) revealed that Jagtar Singh Tara was declared "proclaimed offender" (P.O.) in Beant Singh assassination case; which means that Tara was not tired in this case and no judgement was passed against him.
New Delhi: As per reports in Indian media, the Thailand authorities have "deported" Jagtar Singh Tara who was arrested in Thailand few days back.
Jagtar Singh Tara, the alleged assassin of ex-Punjab CM Beant Singh will challenge Thai Court's order to extradite him to India. The US based rights group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) has retained Thai attorneys specializing in extradition cases to represent Tara before the court.
