Ludhiana, Punjab (January 27, 2014): Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal accused the central government of India of usurping the power of the states over the years, saying the authority of the state governments has been eroded by doing this. He was speaking at a state level function organized to mark India's Republic Day on 26 January.

Chicago, IL: (December 24, 2013): The US Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the Petition for “Panel Rehearing” filed by “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal. The December 23 order of Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the decision that SFJ did not effectuate service of the Federal Court summons on CM Badal.

Chicago, United States (November 27, 2013): The rights group “Sikhs for Justice” will file an appeal with the US Supreme Court challenging the Court of Appeal’s order dismissing the human rights violation case Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal. On November 26, a US Court of Appeals in Chicago dismissed the case on the ground that SFJ did not effectuate service of the Federal Court summons on CM Badal. The appeals court’s November 26 order by Judge Richard Posner of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals while dismissing the appeal gives SFJ the right to re-file the lawsuit against CM Badal.

Previously, Sikh farmers, who had settled in Escorts Farm of Uttrakhand were forcibly displaced in 2006 by Uttrakhand government.

New York, United States (July 16, 2013): The New York based human rights group “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) announced to serve the outstanding US Federal Court summons on Chief Minister Badal in India through Hague Service Convention. The Sikh rights group earlier offered $20,000/- to anyone who could successfully serve Badal with the summons as CM was scheduled to attend marriage in Milwaukee.

New York, United States (July 05, 2013): A US based Rights Group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) has raised the reward from $10,000 to $20,000 for successful service of US court summons on visiting Punjab CM Parkash Badal. The reward for serving Badal has been raised due to the aura of secrecy around time and place of Badal’s arrival, schedule of meetings and duration of his stay in the US. CM Badal is expected to attend a marriage ceremony in Milwaukee on July 06.
