Sikhs for Justice raises reward to $20K for serving US Courts summons on Punjab CM Badal

New York, United States (July 05, 2013): A US based Rights Group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) has raised the reward from $10,000 to $20,000 for successful service of US court summons on visiting Punjab CM Parkash Badal. The reward for serving Badal has been raised due to the aura of secrecy around time and place of Badal’s arrival, schedule of meetings and duration of his stay in the US. CM Badal is expected to attend a marriage ceremony in Milwaukee on July 06.

Punjab CM Badal’s visit to US cancelled in wake of human rights lawsuit summons

Chandigarh, Punjab (July 02, 2013): It is learnt that fearing the consequences of human rights lawsuit in United States, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal's US tour has been cancelled. According to a news reported by a private TV channel, 'Day and Night News ', Badal's visit has been cancelled because the US court has reportedly issued summons against Parkash Singh Badal in a lawsuit filed by a human rights body 'Sikhs for Justice'.

Sikh Community reaches out to serve in aftermath of Calgary floods

Thousands of Calgary residents were forced to evacuate after rising water levels shut down the city core and left many neighbourhoods flooded.

Canada: WSO concludes national annual human rights events in Surrey

US: Sikhs for Justice challenges dismissal of Human Rights violation case against Badal

New York, United States (June 15, 2013): Rights group challenged the dismissal of human rights violation case against CM Badal and filed appeal with the US Circuit Court. The Sikh group has challenged the May 17 order of Federal Judge dismissing the case against CM Badal for failure to effectuate service and the order denying rights group’s motion to conduct jurisdictional discovery. Judge Adelman had dismissed the case holding that that CM Badal was never served with the court summons as claimed by the rights group 'Sikh for Justice' (SJF) and SAD (Amritsar).

According to press reports, the Indian government has “concerns” about the creation of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, such that it has “warned” the U.S. government about its very existence. These concerns appear to be grounded in the suspicion that the caucus is a front for an effectively defunct for a separate Sikh homeland called “Khalistan.” The concerns are without merit, and the caucus itself stands firmly on bedrock American principles and traditions.

Ottawa, Canada (June 06, 2013): The World Sikh Organization of Canada joined the Sikhs across the world in remembering the Indian army’s June 1984 assault on the Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, Punjab. The attack took place as Sikhs gathered to commemorate the martyrdom day of the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan. In addition to the Sri Darbar Sahib complex, 38 other gurdwaras across Punjab were also attacked and thousands of innocent Sikh men women and children lost their lives.

FBI to track ‘hate crime’ against Sikhs; ASGPC praises American Sikh Caucus for the success

Leicester to have Sikh school by September 2014

Leicester, United Kingdom (May 25, 2013): According to certain media reports a second bid to create a Sikh free school in Leicester has been successful. The Department for Education reportedly announced on May 22, 2013 that proposals by nine Sikh Gurdwara leaders had been accepted.
