Sikh Gurudwara Strike – US Senate to hold hearing on hate crimes on September 19

Amritsar (September 17, 2012): According to reports United States Congress would be holding hearing on hate crimes on September 19, 2012. This move is considered to have been taken in the wake of the August 05, 2012 Wisconsin Sikh Gurdwara terror strike in which six Sikhs were killed by a neo-Nazi named Wade M. Page. The US Congress' move to hold this hearing is welcomed by various Sikh organisations and human rights bodies.

Allegations of extremism against Canadian Sikhs aimed at quashing legitimate discussion of ongoing human rights abuses by Indian State: WSO

Ludhiana (September 16, 2012): The World Sikh Organization (WSO) Says what appears to be India’s motivation behind these allegations of “rising Sikh extremism” in Canada is a desire to quash legitimate discussion of ongoing human rights abuses in India. As Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly reported, impunity for abusive policing remains a pressing concern in India, with chronic allegations of police brutality, extrajudicial killings, and torture.

Oak Creek, Milwaukee (September 08, 2012): There are reports that Bhai Punjab Singh (65) who was shot during the August 5, 2012 massacre at Sikh Gurudwara named “Sikh Temple” in Oak Creek, Milwaukee (United States) is making a slow and gradual recovery. This information was provided by Bhai Punjab Singh's family in a statement released through hospital authorities.

Indian Minorities ask California Governor Brown to reject Indian Consulate Rally

Milwaukee/Wisconsin (August 31, 2012): Bhai Punjab Singh, who was seriously injured during August 5 terror strike on Sikh Gurudwara Sahib in Wisconsin USA, hasn't regained consciousness since the incident. He remains in coma and he is hooked up to a machine to help him breathe, his family says.

California (August 28, 2012): Taking another step forward to make the world acquaint with the distinct identity of Sikhs who were being subjected to hate crime post 9/11, United Sikhs, a NGO, has begun a drive to press upon California government to add Sikhism in school curriculum.

Revise hate crime laws to protect Sikhs – Senators to Justice Department

Washington (August 26, 2012): According to information accessed by Sikh Siyasat a group of United States' Senators have sent a letter (dated: August 23, 2012) to US Attorney General Eric Holder calling for the Justice Department to allow for the collection and tracking of hate crimes committed against Sikh-Americans.
