Seven deaths confirmed in USA Gurudwara shootout

Ludhiana (August 05, 2012): As per media sections there are confirmed reports that seven persons, including the assailant got killed in a shootout that took place at a Sikh Gurudwara Sahib in USA. Other Six persons who were killed in the gunfire attack were innocent Sikh worshippers.

According to reports the local police has confirmed that it has “put down” on of the shooters. As per reports injured are admitted to the nearest hospitals.

Sun rays to supply electricity to Sikh Gurudwara in Leicester; solar power project installed

Leicester/Ludhiana (August 04, 2012): A Sikh Gurudwara in Leicester, England is harnessing the sun's rays to supply its electricity. As per a news report published by Leicester Mercury, Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, in Evington, has installed 400 solar panels on its roof in what leaders believe is a first for any Gurudwara in England.

Fatehgarh Sahib (August 4, 2012): As per information shared by "Sikh24.com" news it is learned that Sukhbir Badal, the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, will be visiting UK for two days starting August 6th. He is scheduled to tour Canada and USA from August 8th onwards. The special visit by Sukhbir Badal has been organized for him to take part in the wedding of a relative of Surjit Rakhra to take place in the US. It has been learned that Parkash Badal will also be traveling to the United States to take part in the wedding ceremonies.

Sikh Family denied entry to London Olympic games 2012 for carrying Kirpan

Ludhiana/London (August 02, 2012): As per news reports, members of a Sikh family were denied entry to an Olympic football game in Coventry because the father was carrying a small Kirpan. A Kirpan is a cermonail sword that is an integral part of Sikh religion's practise and is also considered to be vital part of Sikh identity.

It is with great sorrow that I extend my sympathies on the 28th anniversary of the invasion of the Darbar Sahib complex, also known as the Golden Temple, and dozens of Gurduaras in Punjab, India. The tragic events that unfolded over the course of those sweltering days in June, and the subsequent killings in November, have deeply hurt the Sikh community, both in India and abroad.
