Public Interest Litigations seeking revocation of the city government’s notification to exempt Sikh women from wearing helmet while driving or pillion riding two-wheelers were recently rejected by the Delhi High Court which observed that it is not feasible to make headguard mandatory for them.
CO Hundal has been employed by the Yolo County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer for approximately 16 years. The department’s strict uniform and grooming guidelines prohibited him from keeping his hair and beard unshorn and wearing a turban at work. For 16 years, CO Hundal did not believe he could practice his religion while building his career.

Washington D.C., August 20, 2014; Gurdwaras across the country convened in Washington D.C. this last weekend for an unprecedented grassroots meeting called by the newly formed National Sikh Campaign (NSC) to shape the Sikh image in America.
As per inforamtion over 50 Gurdwaras are gathering for a meeting in Washington to chart a grassroots strategy that will raise the profile of Sikhs in America. Newly formed National Sikh Campaign (NSC) is holding this meeting of Gurdwara leaders from across United States to engage in the largest effort to change the perception of the community.
Minnesota, United States (February 20, 2014): According to a statement released by Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) in a significant win for the Sikh American community in Minnesota, Jatinder Singh of Blaine, Minnesota and SALDEF succeeded in challenging the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Driver and Vehicle Services’ (DVS) driver’s license policy. The victory ensures that he and other Sikh Americans in Minnesota can wear their turbans in driver’s license photos.

New York, US (October 02, 2013): The Sikh Coalition has created a “Know Your Rights” document explaining the US federal government’s new policy allowing for greater accommodation of Sikh kirpans in most federal buildings. The federal government implemented this policy on December 10, 2012, and made it public in February of 2013.
Jackson, MISS. (September 26, 2013): The American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Mississippi, and United Sikhs sent a letter to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) on September 25 calling on state officials to investigate the harassment of a Sikh commercial truck driver pulled over earlier this year for a flat tire.
Brampton (September 20, 2013): The World Sikh Organization of Canada has helped resolve a kirpan accommodation issue at Brampton’s Copeland Public School where a Sikh student in grade three was told he would not be permitted to wear his kirpan during physical education classes.

Kalamazoo County, Michigan (September 11, 2013): The United Sikhs has announced another civil rights policy advocacy victory resulting in the modification of court procedures in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, to recognize the Sikh religious practices.
