Nawanshehr/ SBS Nagar: Two out of six youth arrested by the Banga police in Nawanshehr district were found to be minors and they were reportedly granted bail on April 7 while the police remand of 4 others were extended for two more days.
Defence council Advocate B. S. Riar maintained that the police was trying to frame the youth by making “high claims”. He said that the police story clearly shows that the police had nothing against the youth when they were arrested on April 02 and it has failed to make any recovery from them during 4 days long police remand. He said that there was no need for extending police remand for two more days and added that the court seem to have ignored the objections against extension of the police remand.
Meanwhile, according to the media reports, the police maintains that arrested youth, mainly teenagers, were ‘ISI agents” who were allegedly acting on the directions of some Deep Kaur of Malaysia.
According to the police they were arrested on April 2 on the basis of suspicion by a police party that was patrolling the area in wake of Bhagat Bandh call. The police say that the youth were carrying kerosene oil and a match box to commit arson. A case was registered against arrested youth vide FIR No. 26/2018 under sections 436 and 511 of Indian Penal Code.
Police said that the arrested youth was to put imprints of Khalistan and Referendum 2020 in the area.
