December 5, 2013 | By

Mohali/ SAS Nagar (December 05, 2013): It is learnt that on 21st day of his fast unto death, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s health condition deteriorated further; but he remains in high-spirits. A team of doctors conducted medical examination of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh who is on fast since November 14, 2013.

During the examination conducted on December 04 doctors found that blood pressure and pulse of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh was quite high and he was suffering from dehydration.

Dr. Arti and Dr. SP Singh said that Gurbaksh Singh was an extra-ordinarily firm person, but now his condition has started deteriorating to such an extend that the continuation of his fast could lead to serious health problems.

Meanwhile, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has reaffirmed that he won’t take meals and would not avail medical treatment unless the Sikh prisoners, who have completed the terms of their sentences are released from Indian jail.

It is notable that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s fast has started taking form of a struggle to secure release of Sikh prisoners. Yesterday, on December 04, various Sikh organizations held a march from Akal Takht Sahib to Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali to support the cause of Sikh prisoners.

It is notable that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is on hunger strike since November 14 seeking release of five Singhs, namely – Bhai Gurmit Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh (who are confined in Burail Jail, Chandigarh since 1995), Bhai Lal Singh (who was arrested in 1992 by Gujarat police and is currently confined in Nabha, Maximum Security Jail) and Bhai Gurdip Singh (who is confined in Gurbarg Jail, Karnataka for the last 23 years). These individuals have served their terms of sentence but have not been released by the respective state governments.

Meanwhile, the concerned governments, especially the Punjab government and Chandigarh administration, remains unconcerned towards the issue of Sikh prisoners.
