AAP Leader Raises 1984 Sikh Genocide issue; Targets Congress & BJP for Denial of Justice

New Delhi: Senior leader of the Delhi unit of the Aam Adami Party (AAP) and minister in the Delhi government Satyendar Jain here on Friday has accused the BJP and the Congress of cutting a deal on the 1984 Sikh genocide cases. He further said that he would meet Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh and that the SIT probe into the Sikh killings cases be expedited.
“It is unfortunate that 33 years have passed but justice could not be served. Not even a single culprit has been punished. Justice has been denied,” Satyendar Jain reportedly said in the assembly on the last day of the Monsoon Session.
He was participating in a discussion on the inaction on part of the Special Investigation Team — set up by the Centre on February 12, 2015 to investigate into November 1984 massacres of the Sikhs in Delhi, media sources said.
The Congress did nothing to book the culprits because the killings happened during its rule but the Bharatiya Janata Party too was equally responsible as its leader did noting to bring the culprits to justice, the minister said.

“It seems they (BJP) have cut a deal with the Congress. They still have time to work seriously on the matter and provide justice to the victims. Every single death should be avenged,” he adds.
He also sought the opposition’s support to raise the matter with the Centre.
“I will seek appointment with Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue. I along with all Aam Aadmi Party MLAs will urge him to expedite the SIT probe and ensure justice to the victim,” he further added to his statement.
As reported by the media that former AAP MLA Jarnail Singh initiated the discussion by saying that around 5,000 Sikhs were killed in the pogrom across the country but the culprits were “roaming freely”.
“The SIT is not working properly. I appeal to all the three BJP MLAs in the opposition to raise the issue at the highest level in the central government. I will support you whenever needed,” Jarnail Singh was quoted saying by an English vernacular.
The fact of denial of justice to the victims and survivors of the Sikh Genocide 1984 is an established fact now. The Indian state system, including various political parties which formed the governments in the subcontinent during this period and the Indian judiciary have suffered failure to punish the culprits who perpetrated the genocide.
This is mainly due to the fact that both the parties are working on common state policy of denial of justice. According to the genocidal studies scholar Gregory H. Stanton’s theory of ‘8 Stages of Genocide’ the denial is 8th and final of genocide. The denial also includes includes consistent denial of justice to the genocide survivors for indefinite time period in every manner one can possibly imagine.
Three decades of Impunity and denial of Justice:
It is notable that high ups in the Congress party and the Indian administration perpetrated the Sikh genocidal violence against the Sikhs in November 1984, in which thousands of Sikhs were massacred throughout India. Culprits of the genocidal massacres of Nov. 1984 have enjoyed impunity and high political posts during past three decades where as the victims of the massacre were left to perish as the justice was blatantly denied in these cases.
