May 25, 2017 | By

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Adv. H.S. Phoolka demanded from Captain Amrinder Singh to take action against the ministers of his cabinet for allegedly indulging into wrong practices and acquiring benami contracts from Punjab Government.

Questioning silence of Captain Amrinder Singh, H S Phoolka said, “Earlier when leaders of Akali Dal were looting Punjab Captain used to accuse them but now when same is happening in his government, he is keeping his eyes closed. Captain should explain his silence that what is stopping him to take action against Rana Gurjeet Singh?”

AAP leader said that as per the law, no minister can be partner in business with his own government and violating it can lead to the suspension from the ministry. He demanded that Captain must immediately remove Rana Gurjeet from his cabinet.

“If Captain does not take any action against Rana, it indicates that he himself is indulged in wrong practices happening in his government.” he added.

It is notable that reports in media today revealed that employees of Rana Sugars owned by Punjab Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjeet have acquired Sand Mine contracts worth rupees crores in e-auction recently held by the Punjab government.

At least four employees of Rana Sugars, the company owned by Punjab Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, have got mining contracts in the e-auction of 89 sand and gravel mining sites conducted on May 19 and 20.

Amit Bahadur, a cook at Rana Sugars got sand mining contract worth Rs 26.51 crore.

Similarly, another employee of Rana Sugars, Kulvinder Paul Singh, bagged the Mehadipur quarry (also in SBS Nagar) for Rs 9.21 crore.

Two more employees of the minister also figure in the list of 89 successful bidders. Gurinder Singh got a mining site at Rampur Kalan village in Mohali district for Rs 4.11 crore. He takes care of cane operations at Rana Sugars.

A mining site located in Bairsal village has gone to Balraj Singh, who too takes care of cane operations for Rana Sugars, for Rs 10.58 crore.
