New York, USA (August 16, 2014): The Sikh rights group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has alleged that the White House officials have deliberately deleted bulks of entries of online petition to flop the campaign to stop Indian Prime Minister Nardendera Modi. According to Sikhs24, the SFJ has alleged that by the morning of August 13th, the online petition had 100,059 entries, however a bulk of the signatures were removed later on during the day on August 13.
“The Whitehouse has reset the counter to zero on the Modi Petition. But this will not silence us!! The Whitehouse may want to turn a blind eye to Modi’s crimes, but his innocent victims demand we do something!! Instead of 30 days we have only 6 days left. Lets see what we can reach 100,000 again!!!”, a facebook status of the SFJ reads.
“We do not know if this was deliberately done or simply just a glitch in the system, but SFJ will follow up with the Whitehouse and inquire”, another status said.
The petition is still on-going despite the issue highlighted by Sikhs For Justice. There are currently close to 15,000 entries and before the White House considers the plea, at least 85,000 additional signatures are needed.
The SFJ has appealed the people across the world to sign the petition to reach the target as the time remained is insufficient.
The petition urges Barack Obama, US president, to condemn Indian PM Narendra Modi and his BJP for perpetrating violence against Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. The petition went online on July 21 on the White House’s “We the People” Website with the headline “Cancel White House invitation to PM Modi”. Modi-Obama
While Narendra Modi is infamous for his role in 2002 Gujarat massacre, the ruling party of India (BJP) is notorious for participating in the attacks on places of worships belong to the minorities starting with the instigating Army invasion of the Darbar Sahib in 1984, carrying out demolition of Babari Masjid in 1992 and burning of Christian churches in Orissa during 2008.
Sikhs For Justice had tried to seek attention to the petition by launching paid ads on Facebook. In it’s campaign ads, it sent out messages appealing to Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians to boycott the Indian Prime Minister, who was also labelled as the Netanyahu of India.
