Chandigarh, Punjab (February 01, 2014): As per media reports Badal Dal’s youth wing called “Youth Akali Dal (YAD)” workers staged protests at all district headquarters in the state by burning the effigies of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on January 31, 2014 while demanding immediate dismissal of the Congress-led UPA Government.
A press release from the party office located at Chandigarh said “since Rahul Gandhi had confessed that Congress leaders were behind the pogrom aimed against the Sikh community, he was duty-bound to name the leaders involved in the riots.”
The demonstrators demanded that the guilty be expelled from the Congress.
It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi, vice-president of the Congress party recently said in a TV interview with Arnab Goswami, Editor in Chief of “Times Now” that: “some of the Congress-men were probably involved” in November 1984 massacre of the Sikhs (check for details).
