Bhagwant Mann Targets SAD (Badal) and INLD (Chautalas) over Controversial SYL Canal Issue

Chandigarh: In press note released by the Punjab unit of the Aam Adami Party, AAP MP Bhagwant Mann while cautioning the people of Punjab and Haryana against dangerous designs of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Indian National Lok Dal(INLD) said that they are blowing the issue of controversial Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal out of proportion to create law and order problem for political motives.
AAP MP from Sangrur reiterated that AAP will not allow any more water to flow to Haryana because Punjab has no extra water to spare. He said that AAP was firm on its stand and would take all legal and political steps which would be required to resolve the controversy.
It is notable that AAP leaders justify the allocation of Punjab waters to Delhi- which is also a non-riparian state of Punjab’s rivers just like Haryana.

While questioning the intentions of the INLD Bhagwant Mann said that why they kept quite on the controversial SYL canal for ten years when their alley SAD (Badal) was ruling in Punjab. He further said that when it was imminent that Badal Dal was going out of power, INLD suddenly decided to dig the canal. He told Badal Dal and INLD to stop gimmickry and not to create situation for bloodshed.
Equating the situation of Badal Dal with that of a defeated army he said that they were laying land mines before retracting from battle field. He asked Parkash Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh not to create hurdles in development and progress of Punjab and accept the verdict of people of Punjab with grace.
Furthermore, he said that SAD (Badal) and Congress were mainly responsible for selling Punjab river waters to Haryana. He added that Parkash Singh Badal who was Chief Minister in 1978 had allowed his Haryana counterpart Devi Lal to conduct survey for the SYL Canal. “Devi Lal had announced in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha that what his predecessors Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal were not able to obtain, he (Devi Lal) has done with the help of his dear friend Parkash Singh Badal”, Bhagwant Mann said while referring to Vidhan Sabha records.
Bhagwant Maan further adding to his statement said that Badal Dal had supported INLD in the 2014 assembly elections in Haryana and the friendship between Chautala and Badal families was not a secret. He further added that by raking up the controversy of SYL canal these parties were be fooling people of Punjab and Haryana, they were raising the canal issue at a time when the Supreme Court of India is hearing the case and an atmosphere of undesired tension was being created at the Punjab and Haryana border. He appealed to people of both the states not to be misled by motivated actions of SAD and INLD.
