Ottawa, Canada (October 23, 2013): “When it comes to the recently delivered Speech from the Throne, Canadian families and youth continue to be left in the dark” reads a press release by New Democratic Party (NDP), a copy of which was sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by NDP Press secretary Amneet Singh.

“There were 7631 words in the Throne Speech and yet family reunification was only mentioned once,” said NDP Multiculturalism Critic Andrew Cash. “But, not only do the Conservatives not seem to care about the importance of family, they’ve also neglected soaring youth unemployment with nearly 300,000 more people unemployed today than before the recession.”

According to the press release “New Democrats believe that the Conservative government has its priorities all wrong. Like the Liberals before them, together they have overseen the disappearance of an entire generation of middle-class jobs”.

“Yet, that is not all. The Conservative government even went as far as recently calling the immigration of parents and grandparents a burden” it reads further.

“The Conservative government is doing the math wrong. Only Conservatives have the gall to call our parents a burden and offer no jobs plan for youth—it’s downright disrespectful,” added Cash. “New Democrats understand the importance of respecting our elders, prioritizing family reunification and ensuring a healthy economic future for youth.”

New Democrats, according to the press release, under the leadership of Tom Mulcair will fight for Canadian families. Canadians deserve better.
