A formal complaint in this regard was moved in a US Federal Court on by Sikhs for Justice and two victims of 1984 genocide. Taking up the complaint a Federal Court in New York has issued summons to Sonia Gandhi.

In a statement Captain Amrider Singh has attempted to downplay the significance of the case by saying that the complaint against Gandhi has been lodged with clear malafide intentions for seeking “cheap” publicity.

According to Captain Amrinder Signh “[i]t defies logic to complain against someone who was nowhere near the government at the time the riots took place nor does she have any authority to punish those accused or guilty”.

It is notable that thousands of Sikhs were massacred throughout India in November 1984 Sikh genocide. The perpetrator of the genocide have enjoyed impunity as the Indian state has been patronizing them. Many perpetrator were rewarded with high political and government positions by the Indian state and the congress party, while victims-survivors are ending up their hope to see the justice.
