Leicester: Sikh sangat and management committee of Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara Sahib in Leicester (England) has taken strong notice of PTC Network’s claims terming Daily Kirtan and Hukumnama at Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) as its’ “intellectual property”.
Mukhtiar Singh, General Secretary of the Gurdwara Sahib’s management committee, has written a letter to the SGPC regarding the matter of PTC channel’s wrongful notice of intellectual property rights over the Daily Kirtan and Hukumnama Sahib.
Notably, the issue was highlighted by the Sikh Siyasat on January 10, after which the Sikh sangat had taken strong notice of PTC Network’s wrongful claims.
In his letter Mukhtiar Singh said: “It is in the interest of Sikh principles and Sikh Ethos that Gurbani should not be commercialised and should be available for free distribution without any copyrights.
He asked SGPC to immediately clarify the issue of free distribution of the Dabrar Sahib hukumnama and ensure that it is so allowed with immediate effect.
“We are condemning the “Block Content notification” issued by Facebook on the sharing of the Hukumnama, and urge that the free distribution of the Hukumnama video recording is allowed from the SGPC website to individuals and groups who are wishing to promote Sikhi”, Mukhtair Singh added in his letter.
