India-Lucknow: Rapper Honey Singh booked for vulgar & offensive songs

Lucknow/Ludhiana, India/Punjab (December 31, 2012): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) rapper Honey Singh has been booked by police for his vulgar songs. An FIR was reportedly lodged against rapper Honey Singh on December 31, 2012 for offensive lyrics in some of his songs.

As per reports the FIR was lodged by Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) police on the complaint of IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.

In his complaint, Thakur alleged that the songs were “extremely vulgar, lewd and indecent and act as an offensive catalyst for crime against women”.

The FIR has reportedly been registered under sections 292, 293 and 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that are related to obscenity offences.

Honey Singh, 28, raps mostly in a mix of English and Punjabi and has lent his voice in some recent Bollywood films.

Outrage against the rapper and his derogatory songs have been pouring on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter for the past few days.

Previously, some Women’s organizations in Punjab had launched a strong protest against rapper Honey Singh and singer Diljit Dosanjh for vulgar songs that we considered as offensive against the women.
