New Delhi/ Ladakh: A statement from India’s Minister of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin says Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of Chinese incursions with the visiting Chinese President during their meeting Wednesday (Sept. 17) night.

On the other hand there are reports of continued face-off between Chinese and Indian troops in Chumar sector of Ladakh. A flag meeting held by both sides to find a solution to the situation remained inconclusive.

As per information a brigadier-level flag meeting was held by China and India at a border personnel meeting point in Chushul where the situation in Chumar was discussed. This was the second flag meeting that has taken place in the last one week between the two sides to defuse the situation. But, the reports says, nothing yielded out of the meet.

Last evening’s media reports say that even 100 more Chinese soldiers crossed into territory controlled by India at Chumar sector of Ladakh.

India and China have long-standing differences over the demarcation of boundaries and India accuses China for making repeated violations of Line of Actual Control (LAC) in certain sectors of Ladakh. Chumar is one of the very few places along the Line of Actual Control where access to the border areas is easier from the Indian side and this place has witnessed several face-off situations in the last two-three years.
