June 4, 2018 | By

Srinagar: Expressing solidarity with the Sikh community on the 34th anniversary of the infamous June 1984 attack on Darbar Sahib by Indian Army, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani has said that the “wounds inflicted on this minority by Indian military might 34 years ago are not only fresh, but continue to pain and agony our Sikh brothers”.

He said that so-called world’s largest democracy (reference to Indian state) has never tolerated the existence of minorities. Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits and Christians continue to be harassed, killed and humiliated in length and breadth of India.

Syed Ali Geelani said that June 1984 Indian Army attack was a brutal and brazen act, where hundreds of Sikhs were butchered mercilessly in a span of just three days. Hurriyat Chairman said that minorities were never safe in India and every regime, be it Secular clad Congress or Hyper nationalist Hindutva brigade, all pushed them to wall.

He said ill-treatment meted out to the minorities was blot on the image of so-called democratic fabric of India.

Recalling the unfortunate and arrogant show of muscle power, Hurriyat chairman said that inflicting these tragic incidents can never weaken the resolve of the oppressed people and those fighting for their just rights and fundamental freedom.

He further said that we share the pain and agony of our Sikh brothers as we too are the worst sufferers of this Indian hegemony.

Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh released the statement of Geelani Sahib to media in Punjab.
