NIA Takes Over Six More Cases in Punjab; Police Did Not Allow Lawyer to Meet Jagtar Singh Jaggi

Chandigarh/Ludhiana: As per media reports the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India yesterday took over six cases in Punjab for which Punjab government had made a request to the Central government for NIA probe.

According to The Tribune (TT), the NIA, in a statement, said its teams have already reached Ludhiana and Khanna to take over the investigation. So far, the Punjab Police were handling the cases.

Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) checked NIA website to find the statement but it was not available there till the time of writing this news.

Meanwhile, arrested Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Jaggi’s lawyer Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur was not allowed by the Khanna police to meet his client on Wednesday (Dec. 13).

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that he had met Jagtar Singh Jaggi at CIA Khanna on Tuesday (Dec. 12) evening and he visited CIA Khanna on Wednesday evening to meet Jagtar Singh Jaggi but he was told that Jaggi was taken out for recovery.

“I visited CIA Khanna at 5 pm but the Police official told me that Jagtar Singh Jaggi was taken out for some recovery I can not meet him”, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone adding that Advocate Jagmohan Singh would try to meet Jagtar Singh Jaggi this evening as he himself was at Amritsar for two days in relation to court arguments in some UAPA cases.
