Tauranga, NZ: As per local media reports, around 3000 Sikhs took part in Nagar Kirtan that passed through the streets of Tauranga in New Zealand during the “Tauranga Sikh Parade” to mark the Gurpurab of 10th Sikh Guru- Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The Nagar Kirtan, that took place on January 5 was hosted by the Tauranga Sikh Sangat Gurdwara and was part of the annual events held to mark the Parkash Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The Nagar Kirtan began from the Gurdwara Sahib in Burrows St at 11 am and travelled down 14th Avenue towards Memorial Park, back to 13th Ave before returning to Burrows St.
Tauranga Sikh Community president Puran Singh said about 3000 Sikhs from the across the city and from out to town were expected to attend the celebrations during the day.
Sikhs from Te Puke, Pāpāmoa, Hamilton, Rotorua, Whakatāne, Hawke’s Bay and Auckland also attended the Nagar Kirtan and the Samagams on the Parkash Gurpurab at the Gurdwara Sahib.
