Auckland, New Zealand (November 06, 2013): Punjab’s renowned lyricist-turned-singer Raj Kakra is coming up with his début Punjabi movie “Kaum De Heere”. The movie is said to be based on events relating to assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
According to a recently published news, that was put on his Facebook fans page by Raj Kakra – “Kaum De Heere” is based on lives of Bhai Beant Singh and Bhai Satwant Singh, who had assassinated Indira Gandhi on October 31, 2013; and Bhai Kehar Singh who was sentenced to death by the Indian courts in this case for allegedly conspiring the assassination.
Raj Kakra, who was visiting Auckland (New Zealand) on Diwali, reportedly appealed to the Sikh Sangat to support the movie – “Kaum De Heere” in a manner they had supported “Sadda Haq” movie earlier this year.
He said that the movie “Kaum De Heere” shall be released by January 2014. He was honoured by various community leaders, Gurdwara representatives and leaders of Supreme Sikh Council and Supreme Sikh Society.
It is notable that Indira Gandhi had launched an armed attack on the Sikh Gurdwaras, including Darbar Sahib (Amritsar), generally known as the heart of the Sikhs, in June 1984. She was assassinated by Bhai Beant Singh and Bhai Satwant Singh on October 31, 1984. Bhai Beant Singh, Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh have been recognized as the “national Sikh martyrs” by Akal Takht Sahib and the Sikh nation.
