New Delhi: As per the media reports available in order to reinforce its efforts to impose hindi on the non-hindi habitats of the Sub-continent the pro hindutva central government here on Sunday on he bases of parliamentary panel recommendation has asked the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) either to dub them or add Hindi subtitles.
Furthermore, the committee of Parliament on Official Language on the basis of its recommendations give sic years ago has additionally suggested that filmmakers to submit their script in Hindi to the NFDC and make it available to all concerned. The NFDC facilitates line production services of shooting in the sub continent and animation services of overseas clients, media sources said.
It deals with film financing, production and distribution, and works under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. As of now, the corporation’s sub-rules on submission of applications for feature films state that the applicants should submit six copies of their script in English and one in the language the movie is to be made.
However, subsequent to the recommendations getting the presidential nod, the NFDC needs to tweak in its sub-rules on film production. The recommendation only covers regional films produced by the NFDC. The panel had also recommended that the films being shown in festivals organised by the NFDC be dubbed or have subtitles in Hindi so that “the viewers could be linked to Hindi through good quality films”it claimed. However, this recommendation wasn’t accepted as the film dubbing unit at the NFDC is defunct, the order states.
DMK Slams The Move To Carry Hindi Subtitles In the Regional Movies
The DMK lead by M.K Stalin today while taking a stand against the proposal to dub or carry Hindi subtitles in regional movies, has called it an attempt to “force” the language on regional cinema and sought a clarification from the Centre.
The DMK will resist any attempts of Hindi imposition, its working president M K Stalin said, referring to the proposal.
“While all regional languages must be respected equally, any efforts to bring them under the dominance of Hindi will ruin India’s unity and integrity,” he said.
Mr Stalin, whose party had successfully led an anti-Hindi agitation in the state in the 1960s, said the DMK was ready to “resist and defeat” any efforts of Hindi “dominance,” reads a quote from a report published on the official website of NDTV.
The DMK has a strongly believes that the BJP-led Centre is trying to impose Hindi, a charge rejected by the Union government.
