SGPC Honours Sikh Genocide Witnesses, Lawyers; Advo. Phoolka Sends Kin

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Saturday felicitated witnesses of 1984 Sikh genocide cases and the lawyers who fought the cases of the genocide to ensure conviction of Sajjan Kumar, at its headquarters, Teja Singh Samundari Hall, here in presence of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

It was Delhi High Court which convicted Sajjan Kumar awarding him life sentence till death. Noted lawyer and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka was among the lawyers who was invited by the SGPC for felicitation. However, he did not turn up on the occasion. Speaking to few media persons, HS Phoolka said he was not able to receive the honour, so he sent his a relative for same.
The SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal honoured seven witnesses and six lawyers with siropa, Kirpan, Silver Tashtri, silver coins during a special function held in this regard.
