The case, which has led to immediate arrest and detention of the Sikh preacher, had been registered by Bathinda police on September 01, 2013 on the complaint of a follower of dera sauda sirsa who alleged that katha by Bhai Kuldip Singh prompting the Sikh sangat to follow Sikh tenets and remain alert of anti-Sikh activities of deras had led to hurting of his belief in dera sirsa.

During the meeting the Sikh representatives stongly condemned the Bathinda police for registration of the case, and for arresting the Sikh kathavachak, on a bogus report by a dera follower. They said that the police showed extreem haste in registering the case and arresting Bhai Kuldip Singh. The police did not even bother to conduct preliminary investigation.

The gathering also criticized Punjab government led by Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and said that the case against Sikh kathavachak has been registered due to political reasons. “It’s an attempt by the Badal Government to please the dera and it’s followers” said Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal Panch Pardhani.

Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal, Sikh preacher and leader of Panthic Sewa Lehar said Badal government is in it’s full to harm the Sikhi and please the deras.

The gathering gave an ultimatum to the Punjab government to withdraw the case and release the Sikh kathavachak before September 10, and warned that failure to do so shall invite mass protests against the government and the police administration.
