Lashing out at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for once again repeating that India is a Hindu nation, all citizens are Hindus and Hindutva is its identity, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh warned the RSS and its leadership to desist from teasing and striking at the identical roots of the Sikhs and other minorities.
Mohan Bhagwant on August 18 reasserted his Hindu claim saying: “Hindustan is a Hindu nation … Hindutva is the identity of our nation and it (Hinduism) can incorporate others (religions) in itself,” he said. Last week, Bhagwat had said in Cuttack, “The cultural identity of all Indians is Hindutva and the present inhabitants of the country are descendants of this great culture.”
In a statement the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar strongly condemned Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for his controversial statement that all those inhabiting the Indian peninsula were “Hindus”.
