Khanna, Punjab (January 9, 2014): Former Punjab Director-General of Police (Prisons) Shashi Kant has reiterated the charge that the Punjab Government is patronising drug peddlers in the state.

Jagdev Kalan, Amritsar (December 1, 2013): Shashi Kant, former Punjab DGP (Prisons) reportedly said on November 30, 2013 during a public function held at Jagdev Kalan village in Amritsar district, that a campaign named “Save the Sons” would be launched on December 15 to save the sons of the state from drug abuse.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (October 24, 2013): According to certain media reports [t]aking a serious note of submissions made by former director general of police (DGP, prisons) Shashi Kant that the drug menace in Punjab is badly affecting the election process as well, the Punjab and Haryana high court allowed him to approach the Election Commission (EC) of India and submit his representation.
