February 25, 2017 | By

While sharing details with the media he said that the affidavit submitted by the Punjab Government showing cases registered under the NDPS Act appeared to be nothing as the report comprised only petty peddlers who sold small quantity of drugs.

He said the state government had given three responses on the controversial list prepared in 2007.

“In the affidavit submitted in 2007, the state government said the 2007 report was not traceable. However, in 2013 it submitted another affidavit stating that the ‘top secret’ document was tampered with by someone. Why no action has been taken against anyone for the tampering of a top secret document,” questions Shashikant.

Whilst quoting the former DGP The Tribune (TT) stated in its report that despite repeated warnings by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Haryana and UT Chandigarh did not provide him the details of the efforts made by the police in the past three years to identify the manufacturers or suppliers of illicit drugs and the preventive measures taken by the state police.

Moreover, the court in December last year had asked Haryana and UT Chandigarh to submit affidavits to the former DGP, who is assisting the court in the case.

The DGP in his affidavit has again claimed threat to his life from a political party and said it was going to suffer a lot due to its involvement in drug business in the Assembly elections.
