Patiala (March 22, 2010): In the wake of World Water Day 2010, the students of Punjabi University, Patiala have asked the University authorities to adopt a policy for using rain water to raise the subsoil water levels. In a memorandum tendered in this regard to the office of Dean Students Welfare, the University unit of Sikh Students Federation has raised the concern over this problem deeply interwoven with life of the people of Punjab. After submitting the memorandum, Dalbir Singh and Kamaljeet Singh, representatives of SSF unit, informed that the unit is ready to bear the costs of project for one building, if the authority responds positively.
“Punjabi University is an influential institution of the region and people may follow any initiative taken by It.” said Parmjeet Singh Gazi, National President of the organization. SSF is also working to spread awareness in this regard among students, and a booklet carrying detailed information over the current crisis shall be released soon.” he added.
