Ajnala/ Chandigarh: The Border Security Force (BSF) along with the Punjab police yesterday claimed to have arrested two persons. As per media reports the arrested persons were identified as Maan Singh from Sri Hargobindpur and Sher Singh from Kartarpur.
A report in The Tribune (TT) quotes Gurpal Singh, DIG, BSF, and Amritsar rural police chief J Elanchezian saying that the BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement of an SUV in the forest area on a Dhussi bandh between the administration base and the Chandigarh border outpost. The jawans informed the company commander of the Kamalpur border outpost.
The police and BSF also maintained that the BSF personnel recovered arms from the SUV.
A case under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act was reportedly registered at Ramdas.
The police have also alleged that the arrested persons were in touch of a Canada based Gurjivan Singh and were trying to revive militancy in the state.
