Two Kashmiri Students Booked For not Standing Up During Jan Gan Man Anthem

Jammu: As per the media reports surfacing from Jammu two Kashmiri youths hailing from Anantnag and Handwara areas have been arrested for allegedly showing disrespect to the Jan Gan Man Anthem in Jammu.

While referring to its sources The Greater Kashmir in its report stated that the duo did not stand up while the anthem was being played in a cinema hall in Jammu on Thursday. The duo was immediately taken into custody and booked under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to Indian Honour Act, 1971.

The media sources further added that a case with FIR No 31/2017 has been registered in this regard in police station Narwal. The Supreme Court of India on November 30, had directed cinema halls across India to play the national anthem before the screening of every movie and dictated that all persons present must stand up in respect.
