Washington D.C, USA: On September 30, while US President Obama will be laying red carpet for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House, a Citizens' Court convened by human rights group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) will hold indictment proceedings against the Indian Prime Minister. The proceedings before Citizens Court will be telecast live throughout the United States by the Sikh rights group.
Israel: The recent arrest of Wadie Maswadeh, a 5-year-old Palestinian child by the Israeli military has caused outrage around the world. The Israeli soldiers arrested the child for allegedly throwing a rock, even though the arrest of anyone that age is a violation of Israeli law. After the arrest, the child was threatened and the child’s father was handcuffed and blindfolded. Etyan Buchman, a spokesman for the Israeli military, responded to the outrage declaring: “This is conduct that was considered reasonable by all military personnel involved.”
Mohali/ Chandigarh: Floods turned to be mass tragedy for the people of Jammu and Kashmir this year as thousands are still strained in flood hit areas. It worries about a separation rooted in the implications for Kashmir and the country’s east”.
Bathinda, Punjab: A complaint has been filed in a local court Bhatinda against BJP MLA from Indore Usha Thakur for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs by wearing Kirpan (Sikhs' sword) without being an Amritdhari Sikh.

Greece: Two Sikh Gurdwaras- Gurdwara Sri Dasmesh Singh Sabha and Bhagat Ravidas Darbar in Marathon, were attacked by gunfire in Greece. The attack reportedly took place on Sept. 21.
United Sikhs took Gursant Singh’s case and issued demand letters to the Court Executive Officer, Ms. Mary Beth Todd and Judge Susan. E. Greene of the court, requesting religious accommodations for initiated Sikhs carrying kirpans into their courthouse. The letters explained the significance of the kirpan to Sikhs and cited numerous examples of other government buildings and successful cases where accommodations for kirpans were granted.

Washington, USA: Two leading US lawmakers have expressed disappointment over the decision of FIBA to continue with its policy to ban players from wearing headgears in international matches, even though it allowed them to sport religious headgear as part of a "trial period" for two years.
Amritsar: A delegation of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) that had gone to Jammu and Kashmir returned to Amritsar on Sept. 20 after taking stock of the flood-affected areas. The delegation, led by its general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, will now submit a report to SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar on the basis of which they will chalk out a strategy for relief work in the coming days.

Winnipeg: The World Sikh Organization of Canada has welcomed the opening of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights(CMHR). A statement by WSO says, the legal counsel of the WSO, Balpreet Singh attended the inauguration of CMHR on Sept. 19 on behalf of the organization.
Washington, DC: The Washington-based environmental organization, EcoSikh has released a statement on climate change from the Sikh perspective, the first of its kind from a Sikh organization. The statement outlines new actions Sikhs can take to strengthen their connection to the Sikh faith through environmentalism, and expand their political voice within their communities. This statement comes days before EcoSikh and various heads of state from all over the world will convene in New York City for the 2014 U.N. Climate Summit, on September 23.
