Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has made strong objection to an advertisement issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) showing a non-Sikh wearing a Dastar and portraying him as a Sikh instead of use an image of a Sikh person with Dastar.
In a written release issued on Saturday (June 18), SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar stated that the advertisement regarding GST had published pictures of persons of different religions including that of a non-Sikh shown wearing a turban which had hurt the religious sentiments of the community.
SGPC has urged the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure the immediate removal of the picture of turbaned non-Sikh and replace it with an actual Sikh. It has also demanded action against the persons responsible for the blunder.
