Aam Aadmi Party makes Representation to CM to disclose report on illegal sand mining mafia

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party MLA Aman Arora has made a representation to Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh to disclose report on illegal sand mining mafia.

Letter written by Aman Arora to Capt. Amarinder Singh reads as follows:

To,

The Hon’ble Chief Minister,
State of Punjab,
Chandigarh.

Subject: For making public and bringing to book SAD-BJP legislators/leaders involved in illegal Sand & Mining Mafia as disclosed by your goodself refering to a 10-12 page report on the floor of the State Assembly on 16.06.2017.

Sir,

The happening of certain staggering events in the State assembly on 16.06.2017 has prompted me to write to your good-self to come clean by taking immediate action against the SAD-BJP Legislators/leaders who, within your knowledge, are involved in illegal mining across Punjab. It so happened on 16.06.2017 that when SAD-BJP legislators were creating ruckus in the assembly on the issue of farmers suicides & didn’t let the House function for almost 2 hours, your good-self was prompted to intervene and while making the point, your good-self waved certain documents which purportedly was a report containing names of SAD-BJP legislators/leaders who have been directly involved in the loot of sand and mines throughout Punjab. So much was the fear created by those documents that the agitating SAD-BJP leaders immediately dumped the farmers cause & tumbled back into their seats within no time, which made me believe beyond any doubt that you really have some highly substantial evidences of wrong-doings by these leaders.

The unfolding of these events left me flabbergasted as I began to ponder about the secret report/documents in your possession that made SAD-BJP legislators abandon their so-called pro-farmer stand and your mere threat of naming those in the report made them meekly surrender and obey your orders of returning back to their seats which was witnessed by the whole House & widely reported in media also.

What is bothering me most is the fact that when your kind-self is carrying a direct substancial proof of SAD-BJP leaders involvement in illegal mining in the State for a decade, then instead of bringing guilty who looted Punjab’s natural resources to the book, your kind-self is using those documents to arm-twist the SAD-BJP legislators into acquiescing the misdeeds & failures of your government, which further makes me believe that these documents will time and again be used by your Government to get the passive consent of SAD-BJP to the misdoings & failures of the present government.

The undersigned being a duly elected representative of the interest of the people of Punjab is duty-bound to remind you that such acts directly put your Government in dock because ‘a person who hides the illegal acts of another is equally responsible as having committed that illegal act.’

The undersigned therefore demands that the documents in your possession showing the running of illegal mining mafia by SAD-BJP leaders be immediately made public & justice be delivered. Your failure to do so will be enough to prove to the people of the State that Congress and SAD-BJP have a tacit understanding when it comes to serving their own interests at the cost of the State, and your Government is undermining the democratic rights of the people that envisages full transparency by the elected Government.
